Artist's Description

The story of Mai Bhago was the inspiration for this painting of the Archeress. After 40 Sikh warriors had turned and left Guru Gobind Singh, she rallied them to return to battle. Their defense enabled the Guru to escape the Moghuls and continue his fight for freedom.

Gurukirn Khalsa

Gurukirn Kaur Khalsa has been an artist since she was a child. She attended the Ethel Walker boarding school in Connecticut where she focused her energy on the creative arts, especially painting and poetry. After boarding school, she attended Pomona College in Claremont, CA. and later transferred to the University of California, Santa Barbara where she graduated with a BA in Art in 1974 and received her Teacher’s Credential in 1975. Gurukirn Kaur, an artist and poet, pursues her passion for watercolor as a juried member of the Arizona Watercolor Association, Arizona Artists Guild, andTucson Plein Air Painters Society. She has received awards in juried shows from the Arizona Watercolor Association and Arizona State Fair. In April 2002, the...
